Yusif Afandizada, PhD – Cluster head

Yusif Afandizada specializes in advanced nucleotide chemistry. His research has focused on the synthesis of stable analogs of aminoacyl-tRNA (aa-tRNA), utilizing techniques such as Copper-Catalyzed Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition (CuAAC) to advance innovations in biochemical research.

Yusif’s academic journey in chemistry began with a bachelor’s degree from Baku Engineering University, after which he deepened his expertise with two master’s degrees in France—first in Pure Organic Chemistry from Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, followed by Biomolecular Chemistry from Paris Cité University.

Yusif’s academic activities have been complemented by prestigious scholarships, including those from Campus France and the State Scholarship Program of the Republic of Azerbaijan, highlighting his academic achievements. His professional experience includes a position as a Laboratory Instructor at the Azerbaijan-French University (UFAZ) in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he facilitated students’ learning in experimental chemistry. Additionally, he has undertaken several research internships in France, working on topics ranging from antiviral therapy to CO2 hydrosilylation and radical chemistry.
